Sabarmati Ashram
The beautiful ashram complex of Ahmedabad, with it's shady trees populated by thousands of parakeets, beeeaters, sunbirds and squirells, offers a refuge from the loud streets of the city, and is one the foremost tourist attractions of Ahmedabad. Among all the monuments and memorials to Mahatma Gandhi, from Dehli to Maharashtra , this is easily the most moving.

The Shaking Minarets
To see the miracles of Ahmedabadi architecture, called Shaking Minarets (Jhoolta Minar), you must head for Sidhi Bashir mosque, where when one minaret is moved with force, the other shakes in sympathy. Unfortunately, after the Qutab Minar tragedy during which many were crushed, climbing up the Minaret to feel the 'shaking' has been dis-allowed.

Kankaria Lake , Aquarium & Zoo
The life bubbles here every weekend, constructed by Sultan Qutub-ub-Din. Originally known as Hauj-e-Qutub (The Kings Bath), in olden times the sultan used it has recreational for himself and his queen. The Lake is a polygon with thirty four sides and three balconies on to the water from the edge of the lake. |

Step Wells
In period of the Sultanate, the authorities use to develop wells for travelers as a place to rest or to drink water. The finest example are Dada Hari ni Vav and the Adalaj ni Vav. The interiors of these caves are paved with beautiful carvings in stone.
